The City Council and the Oxford Federation of Community Associations recently held an event at the Town Hall to celebrate the work of the city's community centres.
The event was held on the 24th July. Thirteen associations attended and there were over 150 people present – including councillors, city council staff, and the police. Entertainment was provided by Morris dancers and a ukulele band.
Seven trustees and volunteers represented the Bullingdon Community Association at what was a very successful and well attended occasion.
We ran a stall publicizing the activities at the community centre and we were delighted to receive a banner from the Federation, which was made by Steph Jankovic from the Cutteslowe Community Centre.
See the below picture - and look out for the banner on display at the Bullingdon soon!
With the possibility of future cuts being made to local government budgets, it is important that the City Council fully recognizes the vital role which community centres play in promoting the welfare and well-being of local communities.
